Community Update - December 2017
Hamilton SHS will officially close its doors on Friday 15th of December 2017. Demolition work is expected to begin in Autumn 2018, and further information will be provided to the community closer to the date.
Furniture and other items from Hamilton SHS will be donated to schools and community groups following the closure. Trees will continue to be watered and fauna will be relocated prior to works beginning. Building and other materials from the school will be incorporated into the new development.
Following the closure of the school, 24/7 security will be in place to ensure the safety and security of local residents and to protect the site. Once the school is closed, community members will be unable to enter the site for their own safety.
The pedestrian bridge across Stock Road will remain open during the closure and demolition period, but there will no longer be access through school grounds.
Who to contact?
The Department of Education will be responsible for managing the school site, including security measures, until the end of December. From January 1, 2018 LandCorp will take over full responsibility for the site and associated works for the duration of the development.
If you have any security concerns or would like more information on security measures, please contact Mick Nutini from Department of Education on 9264 4450.
Planning documents will be submitted to the City of Cockburn in early 2018 and following this there will be further opportunity for public comment during the formal advertising period.
Community feedback on the plans will be used to inform the overall development of the site.
