Community Update - July 2018

The former home of Hamilton Senior High School is set to be transformed into a new residential community, with modern homes, communal areas and parkland for families to enjoy.

Hamilton SHS officially closed its doors in 2017. The site is now ready for clearing, and demolition work is set to begin from 30 July 2018 August and expected to finish in December 2018.

Located in Hamilton Hill’s south-east, adjacent to Coolbellup, the site’s zoning was formally changed from Public Purpose – High School to Urban by the Minister for Planning, the Hon. Rita Saffioti, in June 2018.
The Minister’s approval paves the way for a local planning scheme amendment and structure planning.

The Local Structure Plan for the site was submitted to the City of Cockburn in early June 2018, and we expect these plans to become available for public comment later this year, during the Council’s formal advertising period.

We’ll keep you updated on when these plans are available for feedback.

As part of the community consultation process in transforming Hamilton SHS, some nearby residents expressed interest in improving the Purvis and Ralston Street streetscapes to create safe, green and attractive streets surrounding the development. We are now calling for residents around the school to have their say and get involved.
