What is a Vision?

The Vision is an overarching statement that will capture what is most important in the delivery of the public realm.

What is planned for Ocean Reef Marina?

Ocean Reef Marina is set to become a world-class waterfront precinct providing recreational, tourism, residential and boating facilities.
When complete, the development will feature 12,000sqm of retail and commercial space, capacity for 565 boat pens and 200 boat stackers, and 1,000+ homes.

Why build the marina?

This site was originally flagged by the local authority in the late 1970s as a potential location for a marina development, envisaged to help meet the demand for additional boat pens in the north metropolitan corridor.

In addition to this, the development is likely to provide more than 900 local jobs as well as mix of residential and short-stay accommodation and a tourism destination for the surrounding community.

What has been the engagement process so far?

Following extensive engagement by the City of Joondalup, including a survey of more 11,000 local residents, a briefing with immediate residents and a Community Open Day was held in late September and early October 2018.

The briefing and Open Day provided an opportunity to view the refined Concept Plan and ask questions of the project team, as well as starting to provide feedback on the public realm design.

We have also met with local groups and clubs, including Ocean Reef Sea Sports Club, Whitfords Volunteer Sea Rescue Group and Joondalup RSL.

How can the community get involved moving forward?

As we move to the next stage of design, we are calling for Expressions of Interest from community members to join a Community Reference Group (CRG) to provide input and feedback into the design of the public realm.

The CRG will comprise a total of 20 members, including 15 community members and five representatives from local stakeholder organisations and community groups.

For more information or to express your interest, please visit the CRG page. Nominations close 5pm Tuesday 19 December 2018.

If you’re not selected to be part of the CRG, or can’t commit to the requirements above, don’t worry!  You’ll still have the opportunity to review the materials and provide comments to the CRG throughout the design process via this website, so stay tuned!  Also, make sure you’ve registered for Ocean Reef Marina updates via landcorp.com.au/oceanreefmarina to be notified when updates and new engagement opportunities become available.
