Community Reference Group

CRG applications have closed.

Over the coming months, we will begin designing the public realm for Ocean Reef Marina. The public realm includes the spaces that are publicly accessible, such as streetscapes, parks, playgrounds and more.

To assist with the design of the public realm, a Community Reference Group (CRG) is being established to obtain ideas and feedback from the community.

The CRG will comprise a total of 20 members made up of fifteen community members; and up to five representatives from stakeholder organisations and community groups.

The nominations for the Community Reference Group (CRG) are now closed. We received a huge response, so thank you for your immense interest and passion!

To ensure we select a cross-section of the population, three community members will be randomly selected from each of the following categories:

  • Immediate residents
  • 18-29 years
  • 30-44 years
  • 45-59 years
  • 60 years and over

The random selection process will be undertaken as follows:

  • Following the closing date and time for applications to the CRG (5pm WST Wednesday, 19 December 2019), the list of applications will be exported in Excel from Engagement HQ.

  • The list will be sorted alphabetically and duplications removed.

  • The applicants who live in the immediate area (approximately 500 homes surrounding the site – the same list of households that were invited to the pre-briefing event and views meetings) will be identified and placed into the ‘immediate residents’ category

  • The remaining applicants will then be sorted into age categories based on their response to the question “how old are you?”:

  • Applicants names and the category they fall into will be printed into equally sized papers and folded in half. The folded papers will be placed into a bowl that represents their respective category.

  • A LandCorp representative in the presence of several witnesses, including a probity auditor, will randomly select four names from each category. The first three names selected will be offered a place on the CRG. The fourth and fifth names selected will be a ‘reserve nomination’ that may be invited to join the CRG in the order they were selected if one of the first three members decline.

If you’re not selected to be part of the CRG, or can’t commit to the requirements above, don’t worry! You’ll still have the opportunity to review the materials and provide comments to the CRG throughout the design process.

  • You could participate in a Community Workshop to discuss the site constraints and opportunities for the public realm on Tuesday 5 February at 6.00pm to 7.30pm – to register your interest email emily.goodhew@landcorp.com.au

  • Stay tuned to this site as we release draft designs of the public realm and seek your feedback

  • Make sure you’ve registered for Ocean Reef Marina updates via landcorp.com.au/oceanreefmarina to be notified when these opportunities are available.
